Jim Toomey is wonderful. He is talented, passionate and generous of spirit.
Not only does Jim bring joy and insight to the lives of millions every day through his Sherman the Shark cartoon strip, he also brings to life the key, and often unknown or overlooked issues surrounding the ocean. The sea is vital to our life, and Jim is doing what he can to focus our attention on bits of this giant issue – one sketch at a time.
Jim is also generous of spirit – he spent time with my son, 8, looking at illustrations that Keanan had done, and talking/ drawing him through his approach with Sherman. That gift is priceless – the gift of sharing information, insight, knowledge, and most of all kindness and encouragement. If only we each took interest in someone’s story – for just a few minutes, what an impact it will have.
