Let me tell you about my devotion
to our big beautiful ocean
It covers 70% of our earth
without it, there would be a dearth
Of something that’s just hanging there
filling up all our air
It’s not just oxygen – half of it from the sea so blue
how would you feel if you also knew
A billion people work with it
in it, or on it.
We must look after our big beautiful ocean
and protect it and its creatures from plastics and pollution
Can it be done, can it?
That we live together on our precious blue planet
Keanan wrote this (OK, with a bit of help from mama) as part of his habitat project for school. You can see the video and script here. Many thanks to Jim Toomey for instilling the love of all things Sherman 🙂
Note to parents: poems are a great way of discovering not only the beauty of words and sounds, but are a great way to learn new vocabulary: Keanan found out that ‘dearth’ is a real word, and a very appropriate one too! It all started with the words ‘ocean’ and ‘earth’. Love it.
Another fabulous work by Keanan Studios! Love the lyrics and want to see them performed on stage by actors in ocean animal costumes. Broadway here we come!
